Paris FC manager Antoine Kombouaré has praised the renewed impact of Nigeria winger Moses Simon but insists the Super Eagles star must deliver even more for the Ligue 1 side, Footynaija reports.
Simon’s form had dipped earlier in the season. Before Kombouaré arrived, the 30-year-old had managed just three goals and two assists in 22 league games. He also struggled for regular minutes under previous coach Stéphane Gilli, who allowed him to complete a full match only a handful of times and left him on the bench in the final two games before his departure.
Kombouaré’s appointment, however, has brought a shift. The French coach knows Simon well from their time together at Nantes, where the Nigerian produced an impressive 37 goals and 42 assists in 201 appearances, the best return of his club career.
“Ce qu’il a fait avant c’est indigne d’un tel joueur.”

Trusting that attacking quality, Kombouaré restored Simon to the starting line-up in his first match in charge. The winger justified that faith by helping create the decisive moment in a 1-0 win over Nice. He also delivered an energetic display as Paris FC secured a valuable 1-1 draw away to Lyon.
Despite the improvement, Kombouaré believes Simon still has another level to reach.
“I told him it wasn’t normal… If you’re a great player, regardless of the coach you have, you have to maintain your level, repeat the same performances. So, of course, I’m happy to have him back, but what he did before was unworthy of such a player.”

The coach says confidence is returning but expects Simon to turn that into consistent attacking output.
“Now, we’re giving him confidence, and he has to demonstrate it through performances of the level we expect from such a player,” he explained.
“He’s doing well, but we always expect more from him. He has to be able to score, to be effective. He has to repeat the performances he’s capable of.”
Paris FC will hope Simon can deliver that decisive edge when they face Strasbourg on Sunday.
