Super Eagles forward Peter Olayinka has been confirmed as a new APOEL FC player, with the Nicosia based club announcing the arrival of the Nigerian international on a free transfer, Footynaija.com reports.
The 29-time Cypriot First Division champions completed the deal in early February, registering the winger after he had been without a club since the termination of his Red Star Belgrade contract late last year.
Olayinka joined APOEL as a free agent following a mutual agreement to end his spell with Serbian champions Red Star in October 2025. The contract termination brought his two-year stay in Belgrade to an early close and left the former Slavia Prague attacker unattached for months before APOEL moved to secure his signature.
The Nigerian joins the Cypriot side with experience across several European leagues, having previously played in Albania, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Serbia. His most productive spell was in Prague, where he spent close to five seasons with Slavia, winning many domestic titles and featuring regularly in European competition.
That run established him as one of the most recognisable foreign attackers in Czech football before his switch to Red Star in 2023.
During his time at the Belgrade club, the Ibadan-born forward made 46 appearances across all competitions and scored 14 goals, contributing to domestic league and cup success.
However, his second season was disrupted by an Achilles tendon injury suffered in October 2024. The issue required surgery and kept him out of action for long. Although he returned to training, his role became limited before the contract termination was finalised.
The 30-year-old has represented Nigeria 4 times since making his debut with the Super Eagles in 2019.
