Transfer deadline day brought plenty of movement for Nigerian footballers across Europe and beyond, with players sealing permanent deals, loan switches and record-breaking transfers before the window shut, footynaija.com reports.

The biggest headline came from Spain, where Ademola Lookman completed a major move from Atalanta to Atlético de Madrid. The Super Eagles winger has signed a long-term contract with the La Liga giants that will keep him at the club until June 2030.

In France, Olympique de Marseille added young Nigerian defender Tochukwu Nnadi, 22, to their squad after reaching an agreement with Belgian side Zulte Waregem.

Germany also saw Nigerian activity.

Philip Otele moved to Hamburg on loan from FC Basel until the end of the season, taking the number 27 shirt.

Meanwhile, FC Augsburg signed teenage striker Uchenna Ogundu, 19, from Turkish club Alanyaspor, handing him a long-term contract that runs until 2031.

Several Nigerian forwards found new homes in France and Italy.

Victor Orakpo, 20, joined AS Nancy Lorraine on loan from OGC Nice, while Alvin Okoro moved to Juve Stabia from Venezia, staying with the Serie B side until June 2026.

In England, Coventry City secured Frank Onyeka on loan from Brentford, with a deal that becomes permanent if promotion to the Premier League is achieved.

Leicester City also strengthened midfield by bringing in Joe Aribo on loan from Southampton until the end of the 2025/26 season.

There were more moves involving Nigeria-eligible players.

Sheffield Wednesday signed defender Tayo Adaramola from Crystal Palace, while Aston Villa sent teenage prospect Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba to West Brom on loan.

One historic transfer closed the window as George Ilenikhena, 19, left Monaco for Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia in a deal worth €33 million, making him the most expensive Nigerian teenager ever.

Other late deals saw Romeo Akachukwu join Colchester United, Tobi Oluwayemi sign for Leyton Orient, Favour Fawunmi move on loan from Stoke, and Prince Ehibhatiomhan head to Salford City from Southampton.
