Super Eagles head coach Eric Sekhou Chelle struck a tone of pride while reflecting on Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco, Footynaija.com reports.
The Super Eagles settled for third place after defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties. Ironically, Chelle’s men fell just short in the semi-final against Morocco under the same set of circumstances.
Prior to that defeat against the Atlas Lions though, Nigeria were arguably the most impressive team in the tournament, coasting through the group stage unblemished before delivering dominant performances in the knockout rounds.
Reflecting on the tournament, an “extremely proud” Eric Chelle praised his players for their commitment and application.
What Eric Chelle said

“What we achieved did not come by chance. There was a great deal of work done with the players,” the 47-year-old tactician said in quotes revealed by Complete Sport.
“Building a strong group is not easy; managing different personalities requires calm and patience, but the players responded in the best possible way.
“The players gave everything for me, for the coaching staff, and for the country. I respect them all and am extremely proud of what they delivered.”
Chelle also hinted at a long-term future at the helm of the Super Eagles’ affairs by emphasizing that the progress witnessed in Morocco will serve as a foundation for a strong future ahead.

“This match is not just a one-night story; it is part of a longer journey that concerns the future of this team.
“We will build on this experience, and it will be the foundation for the next phase of work.We tried different ideas, tested multiple approaches, and learned from every situation.
“Some things worked, others did not—but that is how teams develop. What matters most to me is clear: this team has character, commitment, and a strong future ahead.”
The Super Eagles undoubtedly gave everything at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and Nigerians can be proud of their overall outing despite the disappointment of missing out on a fourth continental triumph.
