Atalanta’s stance on January exit for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman revealed

Atalanta are not actively looking to part ways with Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman this winter but could be tempted into considering a sale if the right offer comes their way, Footynaija.com understands.

The January transfer window has understandably led to renewed speculations regarding the future of Lookman, who famously tried to force an exit from Bergamo last season amid concrete interest from Inter Milan.

Atalanta stood their ground on a €50 million valuation that time, knocking back multiple bids and ultimately thwarting Inter and Lookman’s summer plans to link up ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

Both Atalanta and Lookman have now moved past that sour episode, with the Nigeria international going on to re-establish himself as a key player for La Dea this term after initially spending some time exiled from the rest of the squad.

However Lookman has struggled to regain his spark in Bergamo despite re-establishing himself in the team. The 28-year-old managed just three goals in 16 appearances before linking up with Nigeria for the 2025 AFCON where he’s been in much better form.

Despite his sub-par form at club level, Atalanta still see him as a crucial player who can contribute significantly to their objectives for the season. They currently sit seventh in Serie A and have their sights on one of those highly-coveted UEFA Champions League spots.

La Dea are also looking to go as far as possible in the Coppa Italia while they firmly remain in the race to progress into the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League.

With that said, a potential exit for Lookman this winter is not entirely impossible. According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, a €40 million offer will be sufficient enough to make Atalanta sanction a sale.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are public admirers of the Nigerian forward and are reportedly weighing up the possibility of a move. The coming weeks will reveal whether the Yellow Canaries will back up their interest with an official bid this winter.
