Four Super Eagles players are among the leading assist providers at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
Ademola Lookman currently leads the chart with four assists, ahead of Senegal’s Sadio Mané on three. Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi and Akor Adams are all tied on two assists each, giving Nigeria the strongest overall representation among the competition’s top creators.
Their influence reflects Nigeria’s remarkable attacking output so far. The Super Eagles have scored 12 goals, the highest tally in the tournament, with two against Tanzania, three versus Tunisia, three against Uganda and four in their 4–0 round-of-16 win over Mozambique.
That total already equals Nigeria’s best-ever scoring record at a single AFCON, set in 2000 when they reached the final on home soil. One more goal will see Eric Chelle’s side surpass that mark.
Nigeria now face a major test in the quarter-finals against Algeria on January 10 in Marrakesh. The Desert Foxes have conceded just one goal in four matches and are the only other team, alongside Nigeria, to have won all their games so far.
The last AFCON meeting between both sides came in 2019, when a late Riyad Mahrez free-kick sent Algeria to the final. The winner of this tie will face either Morocco or Cameroon in the semi-finals.
