Former Liverpool and Ajax forward Ryan Babel has issued a strong warning to his former club ahead of their UEFA Champions League showdown with Galatasaray, describing Victor Osimhen as a striker capable of destroying any opponent on his own, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen, now the star man at Galatasaray following his headline-making summer move, will lead the line at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian forward has already scored six goals in ten games this season, continuing his clinical form from last campaign despite an early fitness setback.
The 26-year-old also boasts an impressive European record, having scored in seven consecutive continental fixtures. A goal against Ajax would make it eight, extending the record.
Babel, who represented both Ajax and Galatasaray during his career, told Sabah: “I think Ajax will have a hard time stopping Osimhen. He is a truly lethal striker. He can single-handedly bring any team to its knees.”
Osimhen has met Ajax four times in his career, scoring twice but managing just one win. Their most recent clash came in the Europa League last season when Kian Fitz-Jim’s late strike sealed a 2–1 victory for Ajax, despite Osimhen’s consolation goal in stoppage time.
