Lazio have received a welcome fitness boost as Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is edging closer to his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury, Footynaija.com reports.
Dele-Bashiru has been out of action since September, sitting out three Serie A fixtures during his spell on the sidelines. His absence has been felt in a Lazio side still searching for rhythm under Maurizio Sarri after an inconsistent start to the campaign.
Sarri’s men have managed a meagre tally of eight points from their first seven games of the season, recording two wins, two draws and three losses to place 12th on the Serie A table.

In a statement released earlier this week, the club confirmed that Dele-Bashiru has “resumed individual training and is nearing full fitness,” signalling a major step forward in his recovery.
The news comes as a timely boost for Sarri and the Italian boss will be eager to restore the 24-year-old, who started in Lazio’s first four Serie A outings of the season, to his midfield setup.
However, Sunday’s heavyweight clash against Juventus is likely to come too soon for Dele-Bashiru as the Nigeria international is still trying to build match fitness after several weeks on the treatment table.
A timely boost for the Super Eagles

Dele-Bashiru’s improving condition also comes as a massive boost for the Nigeria national team. Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle will be encouraged by the midfielder’s recovery ahead of next month’s CAF World Cup play-off semi-final against Gabon.
Nigeria, who secured a playoff berth after that crucial 4-0 win over Benin in the qualifiers, currently have a number of key stars sidelined. Chelle will welcome this reinforcement as the Super Eagles look to breeze through the upcoming playoffs.
