Super Eagles goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye has finally broken his silence on constant comparisons to Manchester United and Cameroon international André Onana, Footynaija.com reports.

The 25-year-old Nigerian, who recently joined Greek Super League outfit Volos FC, has been a talking point on social media where fans have repeatedly likened him to the Cameroonian star.

The resemblance between the two goalkeepers has stood out because of their similar looks and hairstyles, with some fans even joking that Adeleye should switch up his style to avoid mix-ups.

With Nigeria in preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Adeleye has taken the opportunity to set the record straight.

In a report confirmed by Pulse Sports, he addressed the public, saying: “To the esteemed public, I wish to clarify a pressing matter regarding my identity. My name is Adebayo Adeleye, and I am a Nigerian goalkeeper.”

He continued, “Unfortunately, some individuals have been mistakenly referring to me as Andre Onana, the renowned Cameroonian goalkeeper. I kindly request that the public refrain from associating me with Andre Onana, as we are two distinct individuals with different nationalities and careers.”

Adeleye, who made his senior debut for Nigeria in 2023 during a 3–2 win against Sierra Leone, is in coach Eric Chelle’s squad as one of the options alongside Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie for the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.

His recent move to Volos FC in Greece followed a strong season in Cyprus where he registered ten clean sheets in 32 matches for Enosis Neon Paralimni.
