Rangers manager Russell Martin has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers is on his way out of Ibrox as an agreement has been reached with “another club,” Footynaija.com reports.
Dessers has been at the epicenter of transfer speculations virtually all summer with Russell Martin even admitting at some point that some conversations had been held with the player concerning his future.
The 30-year-old striker reportedly saw a move to Greek Super League side AEK Athens blocked earlier in the summer despite agreeing personal terms as Rangers deemed their €4.5 million bid insufficient to sanction a sale.

However, a move away is finally on the horizon with just a matter of hours left in the transfer window. Russell Martin confirmed this development to BBC Sport Scotland after affording Dessers 18 minutes of action in Sunday’s goalless draw with Old Firm rival Celtic.
“Cyriel has probably played his last game for us,” the Rangers boss said. “We’ve agreed something with another club. We’ll see how that goes in the next 24 hours.”
Reports suggest that this other club could be Greek giants Panathinaikos, who are thought to have already advanced deep in negotiations to poach the talent of the prolific Nigeria international.
Serie A side Hellas Verona, who recently added Super Eagles striking talent Gift Orban to their ranks, are reportedly interested in increasing their Nigerian contingent by signing Dessers as well. While AEK Athens remain in the mix despite their previous failed attempt.
The coming hours will be crucial for Dessers as the experienced striker will be eager to sort out his future and commit his full attention to helping Nigeria keep their World Cup hopes alive after keeping his place in the Super Eagles squad.
