Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Dosu Joseph has urged the Super Falcons to make every opportunity in front of goal count when they take on the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Falcons were particularly wasteful in their second group game of the tournament against Algeria. Despite registering 24 attempts, they failed to convert any of their chances and were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw.

That game proved to be the only one of its kind though as Justin Madugu’s ladies managed to find the back of the net in all of their other games leading up to the final, notably putting five past Zambia in the quarterfinals.

Dosu, who won gold with the Super Eagles at the Olympics in 1996, believes a replication of that goal-mouth ruthlessness shown against Zambia in the quarterfinals is what it will take to overcome Morocco in the final.

“The Super Falcons are just one game away from winning their 10th WAFCON title after defeating South Africa in the semi-final clash,” the former Nigeria international told Complete Sports.

“However, facing the host, Morocco, in the final will be a bit challenging, but I am optimistic the Super Falcons will be victorious.

“The team must prevent Morocco from controlling possession and forcing their game on the Super Falcons. Nigeria must also take every goal-scoring chance that comes their way if they are to overcome Morocco.”

Morocco will have home advantage when both nations file out for the showpiece match at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday, July 26.

However, the Super Falcons, who are yet to taste defeat in a Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final match, will take huge confidence from their pristine record.
