Liverpool have taken a serious step in the race to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with Napoli setting clear terms before any deal can happen, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles forward is back in the spotlight following a brilliant loan spell at Galatasaray, and the Premier League champions are now ready to make a move.

Reports had earlier indicated that Liverpool are “100% interested” in bringing Osimhen to Anfield. The club are fully aware of his €75 million release clause, around £63–64 million, and see the 26-year-old as a possible long-term attacking solution.

However, Napoli are not ready to let the 2023 CAF Player of the Year leave without a serious package. As revealed by Punch Sports Extra, Napoli have demanded two Liverpool players plus cash as part of the deal.

The Italian side reportedly rejected an initial offer from Liverpool that included Darwin Núñez and Federico Chiesa. While both players are highly rated, with Núñez valued at €45 million and Chiesa at €14 million, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis insisted that any such deal must also include an additional €20 million.

That means Napoli are looking at a total package worth around €79 million, while Osimhen’s latest valuation on Transfermarkt sits at €70 million.

Osimhen has continued to attract attention after a spectacular 2024–2025 season at Galatasaray. The Nigerian forward netted 37 goals and delivered eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, firing the club to a domestic double.

One of his goals, an acrobatic overhead kick against Antalyaspor, was voted the Turkish Super Lig’s Goal of the Season by fans.
