Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu could be on the move again this summer, with fresh interest now coming from France as his situation at his English club continues to draw attention, Footynaija.com reports.

The 31-year-old impressed during the 2023–24 season while on loan in Turkey, scoring 15 goals and providing 4 assists in 21 league appearances. That successful spell helped the former Genk striker rediscover his form after time in England.

However, back at his parent club Southampton FC, the Super Eagles striker featured in 27 matches across all competitions in the 2024–25 campaign, scoring just four times and providing one assist.

Now, with his club confirmed to be playing outside the top division next season, Onuachu is understood to be uninterested in competing in a lower league. This has now opened the door for fresh talks with potential suitors.

A report by The Sun Nigeria reveals that Stade Rennais are now actively monitoring the situation and considering a move for the striker, as they prepare for possible changes to their attacking line.

The French outfit are expected to lose Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer, and their new sporting director, Loïc Désiré, reportedly sees the Super Eagles forward as a possible replacement.

The same report notes that Rennes may face competition from Turkish club Trabzonspor, who are also open to re-signing the striker following his successful spell there.

Onuachu’s desire to keep playing top-level football has made him an attractive option in this transfer window. While no formal bid has been made, Rennes are said to be in the early stages of preparing an offer that could tempt both the player and Southampton.
