Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has encouraged Nantes winger Moses Simon to make the Premier League his next destination, naming Everton as the ideal club for the Nigerian international, Footynaija.com reports.

Simon, 29, has been one of Nantes’ standout performers this season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 31 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

With FC Nantes fighting for survival in the French top flight, speculation around his future has intensified — particularly with interest reported from Marseille, Lyon, Rennes, and Premier League side Everton.

Yobo, who spent a decade at Everton and remains a respected figure on Merseyside, believes it is time for Simon to take the next step in his career and showcase his talent in England.

“I don’t know the truth about the reports that he wants to leave Nantes, but if he were to leave, it would have to be for the Premier League, which is where he plays next,” Yobo told Africafoot.

“It’s long overdue given his ability, versatility, and experience. I mean, why not? He is, and has always been, good enough for English football; it’s long overdue. And, for me, if he were to go, it would be the highlight of his career, because it’s the best and most competitive league in the world.”

Yobo reserved special praise for Everton as a potential landing spot for the winger.

“If the reports of Everton’s interest are true, and above all, serious, then it would be even better. I played on Merseyside for almost a decade, and I know the football culture there; it’s enormous. This would be an ideal transfer for him, as his impact and speed are well-suited to Everton.”

Simon, whose current market value is estimated at €12 million, has made 199 appearances for Nantes since joining in 2020, registering 36 goals and 39 assists. He also boasts 77 caps for Nigeria with nine goals and 13 assists, making him one of the national team’s most experienced stars.
