Tolu Arokodare opens up on impact of Super Eagles experience on his game

Red-hot Racing Genk striker Toluwalase Arokodare has revealed that representing the Super Eagles during this past international break has left him ‘feeling different’ from before, Footynaija.com reports.

Arokodare has established himself as perhaps the deadliest finisher in the Belgian Pro League this season. The 24-year-old marksman has hit 18 league goals so far this season, surpassing his tally of 12 from last term by a considerable mile.

He was on target for the Smurfs in their most recent Playoff Championship Group game against KAA Gent on Sunday, grabbing the second goal of what turned out to be a 4-0 thumping at the Cegeka Arena.

Arokodare deservedly earned a call-up to the Nigeria national team for their World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. He featured as a substitute in both games but played a much more significant role in the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.

Reflecting on his time in the Nigeria national team camp and his experience representing the Super Eagles, the Festac-born hitman revealed that training alongside ‘high level’ stars like Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface has helped his game hit new heights.

“I walk around with a different feeling now,” Arokodare said as revealed by Belgian outlet voetbalbelgie.

“That selection gave me an extra boost. Training with players like Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi or Victor Boniface, they are ‘high level’ players.

“I am very happy that I have already had that experience.”

Arokodare’s focus will be to help Genk, who currently top the Playoff Championship Group ahead of Club Brugge, Union St. Galloise, Anderlecht, Royal Antwerp and Gent, maintain their winning momentum for the remaining nine fixtures and secure a fifth Pro League title.
