Guinea-Bissau head coach Emiliano Te has reacted to his side’s impressive 3-0 victory over Nigeria in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash, insisting the result shows the Djurtus are moving in the right direction, Footynaija.com reports.
Guinea-Bissau produced one of their most memorable recent results on Tuesday night as they comfortably defeated the Super Eagles at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.
Franculino Dju opened the scoring in the first half before Mama Balde doubled the hosts’ advantage after the break, while Alvaro DjalO completed the rout in stoppage time.

The victory moved Guinea-Bissau to six points from their opening two Group L matches after they had also defeated Tanzania 2-0 in their first qualifier.
Reacting to the result, Te described the victory over Nigeria as evidence of the progress being made by his team.
“It’s a journey to reach the African Cup of Nations. The victory against Nigeria demonstrates that the national team is doing well and will continue to evolve in the upcoming matches,” he said, per quotes relayed by O De Mocrata.
The Guinea-Bissau boss, however, stressed that his players must remain focused despite the impressive start to their qualifying campaign.
“Every game has its own story. You need to play tactical football, create better scoring opportunities, and always believe that you can do more and better, regardless of the opponent.
“Therefore, we need to continue playing well and winning in order to achieve our goals.”
Te’s side have now taken maximum points from their opening two matches and currently sit in a strong position in the race for the qualification ticket.
With Nigeria and Madagascar both on three points, Guinea-Bissau have given themselves an early advantage in Group L.
However, the coach knows there is still plenty of work to do and he’ll be hoping his players can maintain their current standards when the next round of qualifiers come around in mid-November.
