Former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has matched a record set by Nigeria’s Anthony Nwakaeme at Trabzonspor after scoring four goals in his first four Süper Lig games, Footynaija reports.
Salah scored from the penalty spot as Trabzonspor beat Gençlerbirliği 5-0 on Sunday. The goal took his league total to four and made him the club’s top scorer after four rounds.
The 34-year-old has scored 45% of Trabzonspor’s nine league goals this season. He also scored twice in a 2-1 win over İstanbul Başakşehir on 23 August and found the net in the 2-1 defeat by Amed Sportif Faaliyetler.
Salah’s first league appearance came away to Kasımpaşa, when he entered in the 58th minute. He then started the next three matches and scored four times.
His fast start has taken him back to a mark last reached by Nwakaeme, according to Turkish platform Neres.
The former Super Eagles winger scored four times in Trabzonspor’s opening four league games in the 2021-22 season. That campaign ended with Trabzonspor winning the Turkish title, while Nwakaeme finished with 13 league goals and 10 assists in 30 appearances.

Nwakaeme’s contribution went beyond goals. His 23 goal involvements placed him among the league’s leading attacking players as Trabzonspor won their first Turkish league title since 1984.
Salah has now matched Nwakaeme’s early scoring mark, but he has another target: turning his strong start into a season that can carry Trabzonspor deep into the Süper Lig race.
