Victor Boniface is feeling the love from Bayer Leverkusen supporters as he continues his comeback ahead of the new season, Footynaija reports.
The Nigeria international received a loud welcome from the fans during Leverkusen’s 2-1 pre-season win over Sevilla at the BayArena. Boniface came on in the second half as his team recovered from an early setback.
Sevilla went ahead through Miguel Sierra, but Patrik Schick changed the game after the break. The striker scored twice to complete Leverkusen’s comeback and secure the win.
The biggest moment for Boniface, however, came from the stands. Leverkusen supporters repeatedly chanted his name, showing that he still has strong support at the club.
The 25-year-old thanked the fans and said their backing has helped him through both good and difficult periods.
“I thank them for their support. They have been supporting me in the good times and the bad times, and I really, really appreciate this,” he told the club’s media.
Boniface also revealed that the support started before the match, with fans sending him encouraging messages.
“You know, this is what we, as players, need. We need the support from them, and I’m really happy. I saw it even before the game, like, I received a lot of messages of support, and everything and I feel, I feel grateful. I feel blessed, and I thank everyone of them.”
The warm reception is another positive sign for Boniface after an injury-hit 2025/26 season. With pre-season giving him more minutes, the Super Eagles forward is now working to regain his best form before the new campaign begins.
