The Super Eagles have booked their place in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup after cruising to a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe at The Valley Stadium in London, Footynaija.com reports.
Making his senior international debut for Nigeria, Femi Azeez was the star turn as the Millwall forward scored either side of half time to ensure Eric Chelle’s saw out a comfortable victory over a valiant Warriors side.
Having booked their place in the final, here’s a look at how each Super Eagle performed during the game.
Arthur Okonkwo: GK – 6.8
Also making his international debut for the Super Eagles, Okonkwo was largely untroubled during the game. However, on the rare occasions when Zimbabwe made forays into his area, he commanded the situation with assuredness. His calmness in possession also caught the eye.
Chibueze Oputa: RB – 6.8
The Enugu Rangers full-back gave a very good account of himself throughout the game. Contributed his quota defensively while also venturing forward when he got an opportunity.
Igoh Ogbu: CB – 7.0
One of the more experienced international players on that pitch tonight, Ogbu delivered a very solid performance at the heart of defense. A clean sheet is no less than his performance deserved.
Chibuike Nwaiwu: CB – 7.0
Alongside Ogbu, the Trabzonspor defender gave nothing away to the Zimbabwean front line. Definitely one of the most impressive performers tonight.
Obinna Igboke: CB – 6.8
Another NPFL star that showed his worth in a Super Eagles jersey, Igboke impressed with his contributions at both the defensive and attacking ends of the pitch.
Tochukwu Nnadi: MF – 7.0
The Olympique Marseille youngster impressed at the heart of the Super Eagles’ midfield, controlling the tempo and setting the tone for the attackers.
Alhassan Abdullahi: MF – 6.9
Abdullahi also impressed with his contributions in the middle of the park for Nigeria. The New England Revolution midfielder played a crucial role in the fast break that led to the Super Eagles’ second goal of the game.
Femi Azeez: FW – 8.0
Azeez’s first appearance in a Super Eagles shirt could not have gone any better with the 24-year-old netting inside the first five minutes of the game. He would go on to grab another goal just after the hour mark courtesy of a perfect cut-back from Terem Moffi.
Philip Otele: FW – 7.5
Although he didn’t get on the score sheet, Otele was arguably the most exciting player to watch in tonight’s game. The Hamburger SV forward was a constant source of headache down that left flank until his substitution in the 77th minute.
Terem Moffi: FW – 6.9
Moffi captained the Super Eagles in the absence of regular squad leaders like Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon. He did a decent job of leading the line and crucially, set Azeez for Nigeria’s second goal.
Substitutes
Rafiu Durosinmi: FW – 6.5
Took over the role of leading Nigeria’s attack from Moffi and while he didn’t exactly cause much trouble for the Zimbabwean back line, his hold-up play and ball retention helped the Super Eagles maintain control in the latter stages.
Owen Oseni: FW – 5.8
Replaced Otele for the final 15 minutes but struggled to have the same exciting impact down that left hand side of attack.
Oyedokun Junior: MF – 6.5
Came on in place of Tijani for the final 15 minutes and helped the Super Eagles dictate the pace of the game with his composure on the ball.
