Nigeria’s international window in Turkey served a dual purpose. Beyond the results, it gave the Super Eagles’ new Nike kit its first run-out in competitive conditions, and the designs did not disappoint, Footynaija.com reports.
Nike officially unveiled the 2026 collection on March 23, just four days before Nigeria’s friendly against Iran, with the home jersey debuting against Iran and the away kit worn against Jordan.
The timing was tight, and there was barely any official fanfare around the release. Where other nations announced new jerseys with coordinated campaigns across social media, Nigeria’s designs were largely picked up by blogs in the days leading up to the games rather than through any deliberate push from the NFF.
Per ESPN Africa, the kits spoke for themselves on the pitch. The home jersey features a vibrant lemon base layered with armour-inspired dark green side panels, designed to evoke strength and readiness, and carries both the NFF crest and the Nike swoosh.
The away kit takes a bolder direction, built on a white base with green flame patterns rising from the hem across the front, back and sleeves, drawing its inspiration from motocross and dirt bike culture.
Nike also included a retro-inspired piece in the drop, nodding to Nigeria’s iconic 1994 geometric kit, refreshed with a brighter palette and a bold yellow swoosh. That piece taps into a well of nostalgia that Nigerian football fans never seem to tire of.

This is not new for the Super Eagles. The 2018 World Cup jersey became one of the most commercially successful national team releases in football history, attracting millions of pre-orders before a ball was kicked in Russia.
The 2026 collection carries a similar energy, even if the context is more complicated, with Nigeria watching the World Cup from home this summer.
Both kits are built with Nike’s Dri-FIT performance fabric and incorporate sustainable materials, reportedly priced at £109.99 for the adult version.
The designs may not get their biggest stage this summer, but in Antalya, they turned heads for all the right reasons.
