Nigeria’s Super Eagles have remained 26th in the latest FIFA world rankings, despite a March international window that hinted at progress, Footynaija reports.
There had been cautious optimism around the Super Eagles after a 2-1 win over Iran and a 2-2 draw with Jordan. Both performances suggested a team growing in confidence and tactical clarity, particularly against opponents preparing for the World Cup. However, the rankings, calculated after the latest cycle of results, offered little immediate reward.
Nigeria’s current standing reflects the enduring value of their strong Africa Cup of Nations campaign, where they strung together five wins and two draws before losing to Morocco in the semi-finals.
A third-place victory over Egypt reinforced their upward trajectory, but recent results have not yet been enough to break into the top 25.

Across Africa, the hierarchy remains stable. Morocco continue to lead the continent, followed by Senegal, with Nigeria still third. Teams such as Algeria and Ivory Coast remain in close pursuit.
Globally, there has been a shift at the summit. France have climbed to number one after notable wins over Brazil and Colombia. Spain drop to second following a costly draw against ten-man Egypt, while Argentina sit third.
