Galatasaray have provided an update on the situation of Victor Osimhen after the prolific Super Eagles striker went under the knife to correct an arm fracture suffered during last week’s UEFA Champions League defeat to Liverpool, Footynaija.com reports.
Recall that Galatasaray had to substitute Osimhen midway through that tie at Anfield with the Super Lig champions ultimately slumping to a 4-0 defeat and crashing out of the Champions League.
Further medical assessments later revealed the extent of the Super Eagles striker’s injury, with Galatasaray’s medical team confirming a fracture that required a surgical operation to kick-start his recovery process.
The Turkish giants have now confirmed via a statement published on their official website on Monday, March 23 that Osimhen has undergone a successful operation and will now focus on working his way back to full recovery.

“Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue playing in our away match against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce. We send our best wishes to our player and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible.”
According to an update offered by Osimhen in a recent interview, this type of setback will likely sideline the former Napoli star for at least the next six weeks. If rehabilitation goes according to plan, there’s a huge possibility that the masked hitman will take to the pitch again before the end of the season.
For Galatasaray, this setback certainly comes as a big blow given Osimhen’s influence on the team over the course of the season. Head coach Okan Buruk will be hoping the likes of Mauro Icardi, Leroy Sane, Baris Alper Yilmaz and Noa Lang can step up for the team in the absence of their attacking talisman.
