“Very high quality” – Marseille coach lauds Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi

Marseille’s manager Habib Beye has been impressed with what he’s seen of Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi since taking over at the French Ligue 1 club following the departure of Roberto Di Zerbi, Footynaija.com reports.

Nnadi joined Olympique de Marseille from Zulte Waregem for €6 million during the January transfer window but the Nigeria international is yet to taste a single minute of action since his arrival.

He was an unused substitute last weekend as Marseille fell to a 2-0 defeat against Brest in Beye’s first game at the helm. However, the 24-year-old could be set to make his first appearance against Olympique Lyon.

“He’s a very interesting player because he brings a lot of impact, he’s very quick,” Beye said in quotes revealed by Coeur Marseillaise.

“He is an available player who can cover a lot of ground and is very impactful. He’s surprising because despite the intensity, he manages to maintain real control of the ball and can bring us the composure we need in the middle of the game.

“When I arrived, I went to see him and explained that I only had 24 hours to make my decisions in Brest. But this week in Marbella, like all the players, has been of very high quality.”

Marseille currently sit fourth in the French top flight and are winless in their last three Ligue 1 outings, with defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Brest sandwiching a draw with Strasbourg.

They’ll be hoping for a turn in fortunes as they chase Champions League qualification ahead of next season and Nnadi will be looking to impress his new coach with any opportunity he gets.
