Sevilla head coach Matias Almeyda has talked up Super Eagles striker Akor Adams’ motivation ahead of a crunch La Liga tie against defending champions Barcelona, Footynaija.com reports.
The Andalusians face a daunting trip to the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday but they head into the contest in confident mood, having managed to stay unbeaten in their last five La Liga outings with a record of one win and four draws.
Adams in particular will be going into this encounter in high spirits after ending a five game barren streak with a crucial goal against Rayo Vallecano to ensure a vital point for Sevilla last weekend.

Prior to his goal against Vallecano, the Nigeria international had failed to score in appearances against RCD Mallorca, Girona, Deportivo Alaves, Getafe and Real Betis.
Speaking ahead of the Barcelona clash in a pre-match press conference, Almeyda suggested that Adams would be very motivated to face the La Liga leaders especially after ending his drought in front of goal.
What Almeyda said about Akor Adams

“Well, what I can tell is that he’s doing well. Like all his teammates, he’s motivated, aware of what’s at stake,” Almeyda said, per Futbol Fantasy.
“Everything we’re playing for is very close, and everyone is important. And whenever the strikers score, that’s what we need. So I’d say that after scoring a goal, he must be very motivated. Especially with the opponent we’re going to face.”

Recall that Adams came off the bench to score in a spectacular 4-1 triumph over Barcelona earlier in the season. Sevilla will be hoping to enjoy similar fortunes at the Spotify Camp Nou and the Super Eagles striker’s involvement will be crucial for Almeyda’s side.
Currently placed 14th on the Spanish top flight table, an unlikely win for Sevilla will be historic as it’ll be their first at Camp Nou in 23 years. It’ll also present them with the opportunity to climb further up the La Liga standings.
