Former France and Barcelona forward Thierry Henry has identified Victor Osimhen as the calibre of striker capable of taking Barcelona to the next level, as the Catalan giants prepare for life after Robert Lewandowski, Footynaija.com reports.
The Blaugrana will be in the market for a new striker this summer, with Lewandowski already nearing the twilight of his career at 37 and increasingly likely to depart the club at the end of the season.
For Henry, his former club needs a top-quality striker capable of delivering consistently at the highest level, and the former France international believes Osimhen is one of the options they should be seriously considering.

“Barcelona need a real number 9. A top-level striker,” Henry told Sport.
“I am referring to formidable scorers such as Victor Osimhen, Erling Haaland or Harry Kane. Proven finishers, not prospects.
“When you have a talent like Lamine Yamal, who makes passes like that, you have to score. It’s simple. At this level, one chance is enough.
“I’ve seen games where too many chances were wasted. At Barcelona, that can’t happen. That’s what makes the difference between being competitive and being champion.”

Osimhen has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe in recent years, making it no surprise to see one of the game’s all-time greats acknowledging his qualities.
His experience leading Napoli and Galatasaray to league glory in Serie A and the Turkish Super Lig respectively will also come in handy at a club like Barcelona, where competing at the top of La Liga is a constant demand.
Whether the reigning La Liga champions will pursue Osimhen in the summer remains uncertain. But one thing is clear, they would be getting one of the best strikers in the world if they decide to move for the Nigeria international.
