Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is eager to earn his first minutes as a Coventry City player ahead of a high-stakes top of the EFL Championship table encounter against Middlesbrough, Footynaija.com reports.
Onyeka joined Coventry on loan from Brentford in the January transfer window but is yet to make his first appearance for the Sky Blues after spending the entirety of last week’s 0-0 draw with Oxford United on the bench.
Having now spent a couple of weeks at the West Midlands club, the Nigeria international is understandably itching to make his first bow in Coventry colours as the Sky Blues prepare to host Middlesbrough in a clash that could have significant ramifications in the EFL Championship title race.

“Yeah, I hope to play,” Onyeka said, per Coventry’s official website. “For me, I’m just doing everything I can to train well and am hoping that I get the opportunity to play.
“It’s a big game. They won their last game and they are now top of the league and for us, we are doing everything we can to focus on the game because obviously who wins will be top.
“We are focusing on ourselves and we know it’s going to be a very intense game. So we are doing everything and training well to make sure we’re ready for the game.”
Coventry currently trail Middlesbrough by two points at the summit, meaning a win at The CBS Arena on Monday night will see them move up to first place. However, they face a tough task against a Boro side that have won their last six Championship matches.
