Nigeria’s reserve goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles are ready to raise their level as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations enters the knockout stages, Footynaija.comreports.
The Super Eagles have been one of the standout sides of the tournament so far, cruising through the group stage with a flawless record. Victories over Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda saw Eric Chelle’s men finish top of Group C, reinforcing their status as serious contenders in Morocco.
With the Round of 16 now in sight, Nigeria will be aiming to build on that momentum as they continue their push for a place in the latter stages and potentially a second consecutive AFCON final.
Speaking after Nigeria’s dominant group-stage showing, Obasogie praised the team’s discipline and unity, while stressing that the best is yet to come from the Super Eagles.

“The group stage performance was top notch. We played to the instructions of the coach,” the goalkeeper who is yet to play in the tournament told Complete Sports.
“From the players, we are in top form and everyone is putting their effort and we are looking forward to the second round. We were tested in every game but there was no tension for us as we were able to deliver.
“The round of 16 is a different tournament and we are going to give more than what we gave in the group stage. We will not underrate any team, whoever comes our way we will give more than what we gave in the group stage.
“We are hoping for good results as we have always trained hard and hopefully we will see ourselves in the final.”
The Super Eagles will take on Mozambique in the round of 16 on Monday, January 5 at the Fes Sporting Complex.
