Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 journey came to a painful end on Wednesday night in Rabat, as the Super Eagles were eliminated by Morocco following a tense 0-0 draw that stretched across 120 minutes before being decided by a penalty shootout, Footynaija.com reports.

In a semi final that offered little in terms of clear chances but a lot of physical battles, tactical discipline, and emotional swings, Eric Chelle’s side matched the hosts for long periods but ultimately fell short from twelve yards.

Here are the Super Eagles Player Ratings vs Morocco.

Stanley Nwabali 7.5

Nigeria’s best performer on the night. Stayed alert through long spells of Moroccan pressure, made several clean saves including stops from Ezzalzouli and El Aynaoui, and then produced a strong penalty save from Igamane in the shootout. Could do nothing about the penalties that went in.

Bright Osayi-Samuel 7.2

Worked tirelessly down the right, tracking runners and staying aggressive in duels with Ezzalzouli and Mazraoui. He gave away a few fouls but never hid. Defensively solid and physically present.

Semi Ajayi 7.2

Positioned himself well throughout the game and dealt with aerial balls into the box. Rarely drawn out of shape, and read danger early. Not spectacular, but very steady.

Calvin Bassey 7.7

Nigeria’s most dominant outfield player. Aggressive in tackles, strong in duels, and quick to close spaces. He picked up a yellow card but never lost control of his game. His physical presence unsettled Morocco’s attackers and he won several important free kicks late on.

Bruno Onyemaechi 7.5

Defended well on the left, staying compact and disciplined. He made multiple recoveries and stood up well to Hakimi’s overlaps. His night will be remembered for the missed penalty, but over 120 minutes he was one of Nigeria’s more consistent defenders.

Frank Onyeka 6.8

Covered ground tirelessly and pressed well in midfield. He broke up play and kept things simple in possession. His influence dipped in extra time before he was taken off.

Raphael Onyedika 6.1

Worked hard defensively but struggled with discipline and timing. Picked up a yellow card and committed a few unnecessary fouls. Did not impose himself enough in possession before being replaced.

Alex Iwobi 6.4

Neat and tidy in spells, helped Nigeria keep the ball when pressure was high. He lacked a real cutting edge in the final third and did not create enough to trouble Bono seriously.

Ademola Lookman 6.4

Had Nigeria’s most notable effort in normal time, which Bono saved. Worked hard off the ball but found little space between the lines. Morocco did a good job of crowding him out.

Victor Osimhen 5.9

This was a frustrating night for the Galatasaray forward. He battled physically, drew fouls, and tried to stretch the defence, but service was limited and clear chances were almost non-existent. Replaced late in extra time.

Akor Adams 5.5

Struggled to influence the game. Morocco’s defenders kept him quiet, and he was often isolated. He won a few free kicks but could not turn them into meaningful attacking moments.

Substitutes

Moses Simon 6.7
Brought more energy and directness after coming on. Won fouls and tried to push Morocco back, though he could not create a clear chance.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru 6.8
Added drive from midfield and showed confidence by converting his penalty. His physical running helped Nigeria stay alive late on.

Paul Onuachu 6.4
Offered presence in the box during extra time and held the ball up when needed. Took his penalty well under pressure.

Samuel Chukwueze 5.8
Had very little time to settle into the game and will be disappointed with his saved penalty. Tried to inject pace but did not get enough touches.
