The Federal Government has reacted to Nigeria’s painful exit from the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 following the Super Eagles’ defeat to Morocco, Footynaija.com reports.

Nigeria were eliminated after a tense encounter that ended 0-0 before Morocco prevailed in the penalty shootout, bringing the Super Eagles’ campaign to a close at the semi final stage.

The result dashed hopes of a place in the final, leaving the players dealing with another narrow miss on the continental stage.

In reaction to the loss, the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, through its minister, Mohammed Idris, released a statement commending the players for their commitment and conduct while representing the country.

“Thank you for giving your all and for representing Nigeria with pride and dignity,” Idris said, as confirmed in a report by the Cable.

“Even in defeat, you showed character, teamwork, and resilience, and those qualities matter deeply to the nation you represent.

“Football has its highs and lows, but your effort, commitment, and fighting spirit throughout this tournament have earned the respect and gratitude of Nigerians at home and abroad.”

The minister added that the team’s performance reflected values that go beyond results, saying the Super Eagles reminded Nigerians of what it truly means to wear the national colours.

“You reminded us that wearing the green and white is about courage, unity, and never giving up,” he said.

“Hold your heads high, learn from this experience, stay united, and return stronger.

“Nigeria remains proud of you and grateful for the joy and hope you gave us during this competition,” the statement read.
