After beating Tanzania, edging Tunisia in a five-goal thriller, and sealing it with a 3–1 win over Uganda, the Super Eagles have finished top of Group C at AFCON 2025 with clear authority, Footynaija.com reports.
Now, attention turns to the knockout stage. The big question fans are asking is simple. Who will Nigeria face in the Round of 16?
Because the Super Eagles topped their group, the competition rules mean they will face one of the best third placed teams from other groups.

At the moment, Mozambique are Nigeria’s most likely Round of 16 opponents.
The Mambas currently sit third in Group F with 3 points, enough to place them above the third-placed teams in Groups A and B, who did not match that total. This locks them into the Round of 16 slot reserved for Nigeria, the Group C winner.
Chiquinho Conde’s side picked up their points early and avoided heavy losses, giving them a better goal difference than other third-placed teams like Benin, who also finished on three points.

Cameroon, however, are another team Nigeria could still face, even though the chances are lower.
They are in the same group as Mozambique, so for the Indomitable Lions to face Nigeria next, they would need to finish third in Group F and still qualify as one of the best third-placed teams across all groups.
This means that, unless there is a late administrative change or an unexpected bracket adjustment, Nigeria are on course to face Mozambique in the Round of 16 — with the Mambas playing their final Group F game against Cameroon later today.
