Nigeria’s Super Eagles will start their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 campaign in Morocco without the presence of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, after the group confirmed it will not travel for the tournament, Footynaija.com reports.
AFCON 2025 runs from December into January, with Nigeria opening their campaign on December 23 in Fèz. The Super Eagles head into the tournament carrying the weight of past success and recent disappointment, hoping to challenge strongly after finishing runners up at the last edition.
Supporters clubs have always been part of Nigeria’s football identity. Their noise, colour and energy often follow the team across Africa, lifting players during tense moments.

That tradition will pause in Morocco, following a breakdown in arrangements between the supporters and sports authorities.
Explaining the decision, the secretary of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, Hon. Sunny Gullong, said the group was left with no option after the National Sports Commission pulled out of earlier commitments.
“Now that the NSC has come out to inform us that they cannot support our trip to the AFCON at the last minute, that means Eagles will miss our services during their matches,” Gullong said, according to a report by The Nation.
He added that the situation is tied to a previous unification plan that brought six major supporters groups under one umbrella. As part of that move, all groups were instructed to use a single uniform, forcing members to drop personal sponsors and branded outfits.
“The unification has made most of us drop our individual sponsors because we are using one uniform in all of our outings,” Gullong explained.
The decision means the familiar drums, chants and coordinated fan presence will be missing as Nigeria face Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda in Group C.
