France-based winger Jimmy Evans has said representing Nigeria remains his biggest goal, with a Super Eagles call-up sitting at the top of his ambitions, Footynaija.com reports.
The Lagos-born winger has been pushing through a steady rise in Europe. The lively wide forward has featured in Ligue 2 for AS Nancy Lorraine this season, recording appearances, minutes, a goal and an assist for Nancy.
Speaking with The Guardian from his base in France, he said; “My dream is to play for the Super Eagles very soon. I have the energy and the talent, and I will be very glad to wear the green white Jersey of Nigeria very soon.”
The 26-year-old’s career has taken him through Uruguay, Ecuador and Brazil before arriving in France, a path that reflects real persistence and ambition. He made his breakthrough at Rocha FC in Uruguay, where he found the net regularly and helped the club win the Segunda División Amateur title in 2019.
That was followed by stints at Danubio and Mushuc Runa, where he built up more minutes in South American football. Evans moved to Nancy in 2024 after a spell with Rocha and has since racked up 40 appearances for the French club.
Evans has not yet played for the Super Eagles, although he did get close to the national setup earlier in his career. After graduating from Kwara Football Academy in 2014, he earned an invitation to the Nigeria U17 camp in Abuja the following year but did not make the final squad.
The France based winger is now working to strengthen his profile in Ligue 2 as he continues to build his case, especially at a time when more Nigerian players abroad keep pushing for national team opportunities.
