Felix Agu is set to make Nigeria’s final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
Werder Bremen teammate Victor Boniface appeared to confirm the defender’s inclusion during a conversation at the club’s training facility.
Agu, who has been sidelined since early October with a syndesmosis ligament injury, was named in Nigeria’s provisional 54-man list but his selection for the final squad comes as a surprise.

Despite missing seven Bundesliga matches and not featuring in Nigeria’s last six World Cup qualifiers, Agu has reportedly been included by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
Boniface, who initially made the provisional squad, appeared to announce his own omission while congratulating Agu and revealing the defender will travel “next week” for the tournament.
Agu only received FIFA clearance to switch allegiance from Germany in May and has yet to represent Nigeria at a major competition.
When fully fit, he is regarded as one of the country’s most talented full-backs, capable of playing on both the left and right.

However, his lack of match fitness means Chelle may be taking a significant risk, particularly if one of the fully fit options, Bruno Onyemaechi or Zaidu Sanusi, has been dropped to accommodate him.
Elsewhere, Club Brugge have confirmed midfielder Raphael Onyedika’s call-up, and Pisa manager Alberto Gilardino appears to have hinted that youngster Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has also been selected.
Nigeria face Tanzania in their opening AFCON match on December 23.
