Team officials have dismissed social media concerns sparked by a video shared by Alex Iwobi, insisting the Super Eagles are staying in a four-star hotel in Rabat suitable for any top national team, Footynaija.com reports.
The Fulham midfielder’s short clip, posted from his hotel window, showed an ageing building across the street and stirred debate among fans.
Some viewers assumed the footage revealed poor conditions at Nigeria’s base ahead of Thursday’s World Cup playoff against Gabon.
In response, officials have stepped forward to correct the impression, explaining that the video misrepresented the actual lodging arrangement and that the building seen in the clip is unrelated to the team’s accommodation.
“The Super Eagles are camped at Rive Hotel, a four-star facility capable of hosting any top national team,” an official clarified, according to a report by BSN Sports.
“What circulated online was simply the view of an old building visible from one of the hotel windows, not part of the hotel itself.”

The report also added that Rive Hotel was selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for logistical reasons, mainly its proximity to both the training complex and the match venue, the Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan in Rabat.
The clarification came as the Super Eagles continued their preparation for Thursday’s playoff semi-final against Gabon. At least 12 players have already arrived in camp.
Iwobi, who arrived early for the fixture, has been one of the more relaxed figures around camp, often sharing glimpses of life behind the scenes with fans. This latest clip, however, became a talking point far beyond what he might have intended.
