Nigeria’s Falconets signed off their WAFU B U20 Girls Cup campaign in perfect style, defeating hosts Benin 1–0 at the Stade Omnisports d’Adjohoun on Wednesday, Footynaija.com reports.

The result capped a flawless tournament for the young Nigerians, who lifted the regional trophy with four wins from four matches and an impressive defensive record, keeping three consecutive clean sheets.

The Falconets, already confirmed as champions before the final fixture, approached the game with their usual confidence and control.

Their quick passing and clever movement immediately put Benin on the back foot. The breakthrough came early, in the 16th minute, when Ramotalahi Kareem continued her sensational scoring run. The forward reacted sharply to a loose ball inside the box and coolly slotted home, sealing what proved to be the decisive goal of the match.

Kareem’s strike was her fourth of the competition, confirming her status as the tournament’s top scorer — edging out teammate Janet Akekoromowei, who finished with three goals. Her sharpness in front of goal and ability to find space behind defences have been hallmarks of Nigeria’s dominance throughout the campaign.

Benin, spurred on by their home crowd, responded with energy and determination, especially in the closing stages. But the Falconets’ defensive line, marshalled with calm assurance, stood strong.

It was the kind of controlled performance that has become this team’s identity. From the first whistle of the tournament to the last, the Falconets demonstrated technical superiority, tactical maturity, and attacking flair. They opened their campaign with a 3–1 win over Ghana, followed by back-to-back 3–0 victories over Benin and Ghana before finishing with this narrow but commanding 1–0 triumph.

With the World Cup qualifier against Senegal scheduled for February, the Falconets will look to carry this momentum forward, fine-tuning their play and maintaining the winning mentality that has become their trademark.
