Former Kano Pillars and Nigeria striker, Ahmed “Yaro Yaro” Garba has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles ahead of their CAF World Cup play-offs final clash with DR Congo, Footynaija.com reports.
The Super Eagles booked their place in Sunday’s final after securing a thrilling 4-1 victory over Gabon in the semi-final thanks to goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke and a brace from Victor Osimhen.
That result means Eric Chelle’s men have now scored four goals in back-to-back matches after also thumping Benin 4-0 in October to finish second in their qualifying group and book their spot in the ongoing play-offs.
Following the win over Gabon, Garba expressed delight at the confident and free-scoring nature of the Super Eagles in recent games, insisting that it provides the perfect platform for Nigeria to go on and defeat DR Congo in the final.
What Ahmed Garba said

“I cannot remember the last time we won two straight games with four goals. We beat Benin by four, and now we got four again against Gabon,” he said in an interview with Footy-Africa.
“We could have even scored more than we did if the players took their chances, especially in the first half, but the win is a good confidence booster.
“Our next game against DR Congo will be difficult as they were able to defeat Cameroon, who are a big team. It will be a physical game and the boys will have to be up for it.
“I like how the team is developing, and I think we will be able to beat them. The Super Eagles have got their confidence back, and I see them defeating DR Congo.”

The CAF World Cup play-offs final will take place at the Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex on Sunday, November 16. Given what’s at stake, it promises to be a nerve-wracking encounter out there in Rabat.
