West Ham, Aston Villa and Brighton have entered a three-way contest to sign Nigeria’s in-form striker Joy Omewa, Footynaija.com reports.

Omewa’s sensational rise in Denmark has made her one of the most coveted players ahead of the winter transfer window, as per Soccerdonna.

The 22-year-old forward has been in electrifying form for Fortuna Hjørring, scoring 32 goals in 35 matches this year—more than any other African player in 2025. Last season, Joy Omewa produced 22 goals and four assists in only 24 league games to fire her club to a league and cup double and earning both the Player of the Season and Golden Boot awards in the Danish Women’s League.

Her scoring run has continued this campaign, with 13 league goals, three in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers and three more in the Europa Cup. Despite Fortuna trailing Koge in the title race, Omewa remains the league’s standout striker, two goals clear of veteran Nadia Nadim.

While West Ham are keen, their struggles, just four points from nine WSL matches, may weaken their bid. Brighton and Aston Villa, sitting comfortably in mid-table, appear stronger options. Brighton’s interest has intensified following Michelle Agyemang’s injury, creating a direct opening for a proven goalscorer.

A move could also influence Omewa’s international prospects. She earned her Super Falcons debut last month during the WAFCON qualifiers against Benin, and with Nigeria targeting an 11th continental title next year, consistent club form will be key.

Omewa missed the squad that won a historic 10th WAFCON title earlier this year, making the coming months decisive for her future.
