Former Turkish forward Serhat Akin has labelled Super Eagles hitman Victor Osimhen the biggest striker to ever grace the Super Lig, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen announced himself to Turkish football last season during an incredibly successful loan spell with Galatasaray. He broke multiple scoring records on his way to delivering a first domestic double in six years to the RAMS Park faithful.
Having made his transfer to Galatasaray permanent this summer, the Nigeria international has continued to impress. So far this season, he’s scored six goals in nine appearances, helping Gala enjoy fine starts to their domestic and European campaigns.
Speaking about Osimhen in a recent interview, Akin, who enjoyed a decent stint in the Super Lig with Fenerbahce during his playing days, boldly claimed the Nigerian is the greatest striker to ever grace the Turkish top flight.

“Even Osimhen was discussed. Osimhen and En-Nesyri were compared. Some guys talk nonsense like “En-Nesyri scores without penalties, Osimhen’s being penalised more,” the 44-year-old former striker said, per habersarikirmizi.
“Of course, they have to do something to watch. We have a lot of bad advertising. Osimhen, he’s a weird guy. I think it’s the biggest centre-forward in the league, ever.
“Icardi, the pure scorer, did some good work for two years and became the top scorer. Icardi is a different player. If I were the manager, with Osimhen, I’d be so happy with my team. He’s my dream striker.”

With the likes of Didier Drogba and Mario Jardel also having played in the Turkish game at some point, whether Osimhen is truly the biggest striker the Super Lig has ever seen remains up for debate.
However, his exploits for Galatasaray over the past year have deservedly earned him superstar status in Turkey. In fact, there will be many who already consider him a legend of the Turkish game after last season’s achievements.
