Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has called on stakeholders of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to embrace responsibility as the new season draws closer, Footynaija.com reports.

Speaking at the NPFL pre-season workshop for Media Officers, Supporters Club Chairmen and Chief Security Officers in Abuja, Gusau stressed that the success of clubs and the league depends on the dedication of those who drive activities off the pitch.

The workshop was part of preparations for the 2025/26 NPFL campaign, which is set to kick off on August 22. Participants were gathered to strengthen their roles in club management, fan coordination and matchday security.

Declaring it open, Gusau urged the participants to put the learnings into practice, reminding them that their input is essential to the league’s growth.

“Your roles in making your clubs and the league to succeed is very important and it is the reason this workshop is put in place to ensure you are properly equipped to carry out your duties,” he charged.

This comes at a time when Gusau has been actively involved in league-related programmes, including inspections of infrastructure projects such as the NFF-FIFA Players’ Hostel and training pitches at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Gbenga Elegbeleye, the Chairman of the NPFL board, described the programme as a compulsory build-up to every season. He thanked the NFF President for always giving attention to events tied to the league, adding that such support reflects the Federation’s renewed commitment to domestic football.

The workshop is also designed to modernise the operational knowledge of officials and build better coordination between clubs and fans.
