Former Arsenal and England international striker Ian Wright has revealed his admiration for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, following the latter’s remarkable rise to prominence as one of the best attackers in the Serie A within the last few years, Footynaija.com reports.

Since arriving at Atalanta, Lookman has been one of the most prolific attackers in Italy. But after three sensational years of service in Bergamo, the Nigeria international currently finds himself embroiled in a sour transfer saga with La Dea.

Before his rise to prominence in Italy, Lookman had previously struggled to find his feet at a number of different English clubs and was widely regarded as a flop. A promising spell at Charlton Athletic where he made his professional debut was followed by disappointing stints at Everton, Fulham and Leicester City.

With Lookman’s reputation now tremendously enhanced courtesy of his record of 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances for Atalanta, Wright, who fired Arsenal to Premier League glory in his final season at the Emirates, believes the Super Eagles star could be the missing piece of the puzzle for the Gunners’ title aspirations.

“I would love someone like him to come back to the Premier League and say, ‘Listen, I have unfinished business here, so I am going to help Arsenal win the league,’” Wright said, according to The Mirror UK via Instagram. “But I just admire his journey. And now he’s recognised rightly as a top player—unbelievable.”

Despite Wright’s desire to see Lookman make a return to the Premier League, the current Africa Player of the Year is more likely to join Atalanta’s Serie A rivals Inter Milan. The twenty-time Scudetto winners have bid €45 million for the 27-year-old but La Dea are currently holding out for their full €50 million asking price.
