Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi has spoken of his immense relief after scoring his first goal in over a year, capping a long and painful recovery from a serious knee injury, Footynaija.com reports.

The 25-year-old Nigerian found the net during OGC Nice’s stunning 6-0 win over Brest on May 17 — a moment that marked his first goal since suffering a devastating ACL tear in July 2024.

Moffi’s injury occurred during a training session shortly after Nice’s pre-season friendly against Leganés. The forward underwent surgery on both his ACL and meniscus, spending more than eight months on the sidelines before returning to full training during the March international break.

After making brief substitute appearances against Monaco, Nantes, Strasbourg, and Reims, Moffi made a telling impact against Brest. Brought on in the 78th minute, he needed just four minutes to score Nice’s fifth goal of the night — a moment that clearly meant the world to him.

Reacting on Instagram, Moffi wrote: “It was pure relief, I mean look at my face,” in response to a fan’s question.

Reflecting on his recovery journey, he added: “Getting an ACL and meniscus surgery has to top the list, difficult times. I accepted it and took it day by day, although some days were frustrating. I had good people around me and my faith helped me a lot. A lot to say, but I’ll keep it brief.”

Nice’s fourth-place finish means Moffi now has a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
