Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare has admitted he would welcome a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich or the Saudi Pro League, following his most prolific campaign to date with Belgian side Genk, Footynaija.com reports.

The 24-year-old striker has enjoyed a breakout season, scoring 22 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions under manager Thorsten Fink. His form has not only propelled Genk’s attack but also earned him a debut for the Super Eagles in March against Rwanda.

Now, Arokodare finds himself attracting interest from across Europe and beyond, including newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and clubs in Saudi Arabia. Speaking to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, he did little to downplay the growing speculation.

“If the opportunity comes, I have to make sure I’m ready. You don’t know how many times a train will pass, so I don’t want to miss any opportunities,” he said.

Asked whether he would be open to playing second fiddle to Harry Kane in Munich, he replied: “That I would be the stand-in for Harry Kane? Yes. That would be nice, wouldn’t it. It’s still rumours, I haven’t had any contact.”

The former FC Köln striker endured a tough time in the Bundesliga during his loan spell in 2020, but insists his stance has changed. “It wasn’t a good experience, no. But things change when you are talking about Bayern and Dortmund, don’t they?”

Genk’s Head of Football Dimitri De Condé confirmed the club is preparing for potential departures, including Arokodare. Despite the speculation, the Nigerian insists his focus remains on the pitch.

“I see news popping up everywhere. It’s fun to read, sometimes even surprising. I stay focused on my game. I realize: if I perform well, the interest will increase.”

Arokodare made his Super Eagles debut under Eric Chelle in March during the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
