Spanish side Real Sociedad are preparing a third attempt to sign Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche after two failed efforts to lure him from Getafe CF, Footynaija.com reports.

The 22-year-old Super Eagles star, who was instrumental in helping Getafe avoid relegation in the just-concluded 2024–25 La Liga season, has once again become the subject of serious interest from the Basque club.

Uche played a total of 2,760 minutes across 37 league matches, scored in key moments, and recorded six assists, making him one of Getafe’s standout performers of the campaign.

His most memorable moment came recently, when he scored a winning goal against RCD Mallorca. That strike not only secured all three points but also helped Getafe’s survival in the top flight. The club’s management now sees him as a core figure going forward and are unwilling to lose him any time soon.

Real Sociedad, however, are refusing to back down. Club director Roberto Olabe is pushing hard to seal the deal before he steps down from his role.

Sources from within the Basque outfit say this is the third time they are going after Uche, having already failed during the 2024 summer and 2025 winter transfer windows.

Club president Jokin Aperribay has now approved a renewed push for the Nigerian, despite knowing how difficult negotiations could be.

Uche has a contract with Getafe until 2028, and the club has made it clear that they will demand his €25 million release clause in full. Sporting Director Rubén Reyes insists on keeping the midfielder, and club president Ángel Torres has no intention of entertaining any bids, especially after Uche’s game-changing impact this season.
