German born Nigeria-eligible defender Felix Agu is maintaining focus on achieving this season’s objectives despite growing media speculation linking him with a potential move away from WerdeBremen this summer, Footynaija.com reports.

Agu has established himself as a vital member of Werder Bremen’s squad and the former Germany U21 international has reportedly caught the attention of a couple of Premier League clubs with his levels and consistent performances for the German club.

Recent reports have claimed that the versatile 25-year-old defender is currently attracting interest from two Premier League London clubs Fulham and West Ham United with a move ahead of the 25/26 season potentially on the cards.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, there is a release clause in Agu’s Werder Bremen contract that expires at the end of this month. Until then, the defender will be available for a fee in the region of £8 million.

However, Agu appears to be unfazed by the growing speculations surrounding his future with the 25-year-old insisting that he’s fully focused on finishing the season strongly with Werder Bremen.

“Of course, I heard the news [about the interest from West Ham and co],” Agu said when quizzed about the rumours in an interview with Weser Kurier. “For me, it’s about us achieving the best possible result this season with Werder.

“I feel very comfortable here. I like the team. I like the club. It’s a dream for every footballer to play in Europe at some point, to be able to play under floodlights during the week. Not just in the cup, but also on the international stage.”

Agu also recently opened up on his readiness to represent Nigeria at senior international level. His potential addition to the national team setup is without doubt an exciting prospect.
