Egypt U-20 head coach Osama Nabih has revealed that his team will give everything to secure a third-place finish when they face Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in the bronze medal match of the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.

The Young Pharaohs were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Morocco in their semi-final clash at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo on Thursday night.

That result ended their dream of lifting the title on home soil, but Nabih insists there is still something left to fight for.

Now set to take on Nigeria, who also suffered a 1–0 semi-final loss to South Africa, the Egyptian coach has expressed full belief in his players to respond with a strong showing on Sunday.

“We’ll do everything to give the fans something to celebrate,” Nabih said, in quotes reported by Completesports.

Although disappointed by the semi-final outcome, Nabih praised the character shown by his players throughout the tournament.

“The journey may not have ended the way we hoped, but we have shown resilience, and I trust the boys to finish on a high,” he added.

Nigeria and Egypt will meet at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, with both sides hoping to end their campaigns positively before heading to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The Flying Eagles won the championship a record 7 times, came in second twice, and third 3 times. That is, they were on the podium 12 times, and are now aiming for their 13th podium finish in the competition’s history.

Nabih’s comments reflect a determined mindset within the Egyptian camp, especially as the tournament hosts look to give their home supporters a reason to smile before the final whistle of their campaign.
