Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina have both been shortlisted for the 2025 EA Sports FC Premier League Team of the Season, Footynaija.com reports.

Iwobi and Aina’s nominations come after their standout campaigns with Fulham and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Iwobi has enjoyed his most productive Premier League season to date, registering eight goals and five assists across 30 starts. His creativity and consistency have powered Fulham’s push for a European spot, with Marco Silva’s men currently sitting ninth on 48 points — just six behind sixth-placed Chelsea.

The 27-year-old midfielder also etched his name in Premier League history earlier this season, becoming the first Nigerian player to surpass 30 goals and 30 assists in the competition after his goal and assist helped Fulham to a thrilling 3-2 win over Liverpool.

Iwobi’s performances have earned him a nomination in the midfield category alongside the likes of Cole Palmer, Bruno Fernandes, Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, and Alexis Mac Allister.

Meanwhile, Ola Aina’s form at Nottingham Forest has seen him hailed as one of the best right-backs in the league this season. Aina has played a pivotal role in Forest’s defensive stability, with the club surprisingly sitting third in the table.

According to data from WhoScored, as of March, Aina had made more successful ball recoveries in the defensive third (105) than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues. He’s also chipped in with two goals and an assist, underlining his all-round impact.

The 27-year-old defender was nominated in the defensive category alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Voting for the EA Sports FC Premier League Team of the Season closes on Sunday, 20 April.
