Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare hit a significant personal milestone on Wednesday night, netting his 20th league goal of the season for Genk, Footynaija.com reports.

But the Nigerian’s landmark effort wasn’t enough to earn maximum points, as Genk were held to a 1-1 draw by Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League playoffs — a result that further dents their title aspirations.

After back-to-back defeats against Club Brugge and Union St. Gilloise, Genk arrived in Antwerp needing a win to reignite their faltering title charge. However, despite showing renewed intent, they struggled to break through in a frustrating first half.

Their task was made even harder when Michel-Ange Balikwisha fired the hosts into the lead on 61 minutes.

Antwerp could have doubled their advantage shortly after, but Mike Penders saved brilliantly to deny Tjaronn Chery from the penalty spot — a moment that proved pivotal.

Moments later, Genk found their lifeline. Arokodare rose highest to meet Joris Kayembe’s precise cross, nodding home the equaliser with authority and giving the visitors hope of a late winner.

However, despite their late push, Genk couldn’t find a second goal. The 1-1 result means they now risk falling four points behind Club Brugge, who play Union St. Gilloise on Thursday. Antwerp, meanwhile, remain sixth in the playoff standings with 25 points.

Arokodare will be looking to inspire Genk once again when they host Royal Antwerp in a reverse fixture on Sunday, April 27 — a clash that could prove decisive in the title race.
