Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been handed a stern test at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations after being drawn in a difficult Group B featuring Morocco, Tunisia, and Kenya, Footynaija.com reports.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted a fresh draw following Côte d’Ivoire’s withdrawal as tournament hosts. Egypt were announced as the new hosts, prompting a reshuffle of the groups and a reallocation of teams.

Nigeria, initially drawn in February alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco, now avoid the hosts but still face a tough challenge. With Morocco and Tunisia — two North African giants — alongside debutants Kenya, only the top two sides will progress from the group into the knockout stages.

The Flying Eagles remain the tournament’s most successful side with seven titles, though they haven’t lifted the trophy in ten years. Head coach Aliyu Zubairu will be aiming to end that decade-long drought with a confident campaign in Egypt.

In the rest of the draw, hosts Egypt are joined in Group A by South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone. Defending champions Senegal headline Group C with DR Congo, Ghana, and Central African Republic.

The tournament runs from 27 April to 18 May 2025, with the top four teams also qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
