Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has named an unchanged lineup for the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Footynaija.com reports.

Chelle has placed his trust in the same starting XI that secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, aiming to build on that momentum as the Super Eagles chase a vital win to strengthen their qualification hopes.

Despite their triumph over Rwanda, Nigeria face intense pressure heading into this encounter.

The Super Eagles sit in a tight qualification race, and with just four matches remaining after today, anything less than three points could dent their World Cup ambitions.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, arrive in Uyo with confidence, having lost only once in their last seven outings. They held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw when the teams met in Butare in November 2023 and will be determined to go one step further.

The Warriors are chasing a historic first-ever World Cup qualification and see this fixture as a pivotal moment in their campaign.

The Super Eagles, however, have received a significant boost with the return of key players, including captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali — all of whom missed the first leg of this fixture. Their presence could provide the edge Nigeria need to break down a resilient Zimbabwean side.

A victory would propel the Super Eagles into the top three of their qualifying group, keeping them firmly in contention for a spot at the 2026 World Cup. Kick-off is set for 5pm Nigerian time.
