Boniface, 24, has endured a difficult spell at Bayer Leverkusen in recent weeks, starting just one of the Bundesliga champions’ last six matches across all competitions.
His limited game time has fuelled speculation about his future, with several Premier League clubs closely monitoring the situation.
The Nigerian forward was on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr during the January transfer window before the deal fell through, with the club opting to sign Jhon Durán from Aston Villa instead.
Chelsea have now placed Boniface high on their summer transfer shortlist as they look to bolster their attacking options following a disappointing campaign. The Blues’ current strike duo of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have struggled to deliver consistently, combining for just 12 Premier League goals so far this season.
Despite his recent struggles, Boniface has netted 10 goals in all competitions this term.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle are also keeping tabs on the Nigerian international, who could be tempted by a move to the Premier League after just one season in Germany.
With fellow countryman Victor Osimhen also expected to seek a new challenge this summer, Boniface’s future is set to become one of the most talked-about transfer stories in the coming months.
